About Brett
Hey, I’m Brett, a lifelong skateboarder with 23 years of business experience. I started my first skate company at the age of 12 and have been deeply involved in the skate industry ever since. From hardgoods to skateparks to retail, I’ve done it all.
Skateboarding taught me accountability and the keys to a successful business. Now, I’ve turned my passion for skating into a profitable business beyond the confines of an indoor skatepark and skate shop. When I founded Skate The Foundry, I faced the challenge of limited business resources for creating a skate company. Even today, I still struggle to find crucial information.
My goal is to promote and grow skateboarding, and if that means helping my competitors, I’m more than happy to do so! I’m here to inspire people of all ages to venture into the world of business, whether it’s big or small, offering private lessons or full-scale skate camps, selling a single product, or running a skate shop. I’ll be sharing it all!
Beyond skateboarding and business, I’m obsessed with ultra marathons – distances pushing 50 kilometers (31 miles) all the way up to 100 miles (and sometimes beyond!). These epic runs, often lasting 26-30 hours depending on the terrain, aren’t just about pushing my limits physically. It’s during these long stretches in nature that I experience incredible clarity and inspiration. That’s why you might catch me offering advice “from the woods” in some of my videos – those long runs are where many of my best business ideas spark!
