Skateboard Business Cards or Flyers Workshop

Business Cards:

Pros:

  1. Professional: Positive first impression.
  2. Networking: They are convenient for exchanging contact information during networking events and meetings.
  3. Branding: A well-designed business card can reinforce your brand identity and leave a lasting impression on potential clients.
  4. Accessibility: They are portable and can be easily carried in wallets or cardholders, making contact information readily available at all times.

Cons:

  1. Cost: Designing and printing business cards can be an added expense, especially for small businesses or startups with limited budgets.
  2. Limited information: The size of a business card restricts the amount of information you can include, potentially leaving out important details about your business.
  3. Digital alternatives: In the digital age, many people prefer exchanging contact information electronically, reducing the need for physical business cards.
  • Must have a QR Code on card to lead to sales (lessons, products, etc.).
  1. Outdated information: If your contact details change frequently, printed business cards may become outdated quickly, leading to potential confusion.

Overall, having a business card can be a valuable tool for networking and leaving a professional impression, but it’s essential to consider both the benefits and drawbacks before investing in them.

Flyers

Pros:

  1. Cost-effective: Flyers are relatively inexpensive to produce compared to other advertising methods, making them suitable for small businesses or tight budgets.
  2. Tangible marketing: They provide a physical representation of your message, allowing potential customers to hold and refer back to them.
  3. Targeted distribution: Flyers can be strategically distributed to specific locations or target audiences, increasing the chances of reaching potential customers.
  4. Customizability: You have full control over the design and content, allowing you to tailor the message to suit your business’s needs.
  5. Quick dissemination: Flyers can be printed and distributed rapidly, making them ideal for time-sensitive promotions or events.

Cons:

  1. Limited attention span: People often have a short attention span when encountering flyers, which means you need to create eye-catching designs and concise messages.
  2. Potential litter: If not properly disposed of, flyers can contribute to litter and negatively impact the environment.
  3. Effectiveness uncertainty: Measuring the success of a flyer campaign can be challenging, as it’s challenging to track direct conversions or responses.
  4. Oversaturation: In busy areas, people might be bombarded with numerous flyers, making it harder for yours to stand out and capture attention.

When using flyers, it’s essential to have a balance between effective design, targeted distribution, and considering environmental concerns. Evaluating the specific goals and circumstances of your advertising campaign can help determine if flyers are the right choice for your business.

My Opinion:

Starting out, consider using flyers for several compelling reasons:

  1. Cost-Effective: Flyers are a budget-friendly option as they are cheaper to print on paper compared to business cards.
  2. Quick Printing: You can easily print flyers at home or at nearby office supply stores like Staples, UPS, FedEx, local libraries, or schools.
  3. Quantity Control: Flyers offer flexibility, allowing you to print the exact quantity needed, making it ideal for new businesses that might go through changes and adaptations.
  4. Effective Call To Actions: With flyers, you can include compelling call-to-action messages, such as limited-time discounts, to attract and engage potential customers.
